ADOPTION PENDING

When BILLY III arrived we noticed that he was walking a little stiff leg in the back end.  The initial x-rays did not show any apparent damage, but there was no improvement so we had him examined by our expert surgeon, Dr. Hay.  He found an old injury that appeared to be a fracture between the T-11 and T-12 vertebrae which had long ago healed.  There was also some damage where BILLY III’s tail bone attached to his spine. Again this was old damage that had long ago healed on its own.  These type injuries would be consistent with being hit by a car.

DR Hay’s assessment is that BILLY III has adjusted to these old injuries and is functioning quite well and he does not see any long term issues and did not recommend any surgery.  He did recommend that some caution be taken to prevent further damage to BILLY III’s spine by having him jumped on a by a larger dog, etc.

We were concerned that BILLY III’s injuries may have caused some fecal incontinence, but Dr. Hay said those muscles are quite strong.  Because BILLY III cannot properly posture (squat) when he has a bowel movement there is a chance that all of the feces may not come out and some remnants of feces may fall out when he is walking around after the bowel movement. We have kept BILLY III on a dry food diet and his foster reports that this is now only a minor issue.

BILLY III is a tiny Beagle boy with a big heart and needs a calm family will give this sweet and friendly little Beagle boy, with the funny walk, a loving home.

One of the 5 Beagles we rescued from the shelter at Plaquemine, Louisiana. They were all confiscated from their owner as part of a criminal abuse/neglect case when they were found all stuffed into a small kennel living on a mat of feces, urine and who knows what.  Despite the horrors of their previous life these are about the friendliest band of beagles you could meet.  They all love attention and just want to be petted and loved on by every human they encounter.
