ADOPTION PENDING
UPDATE: Billy has been in his foster home now for a week, he transferred there from our intake coordinator's home. He is doing fantastic and although the family has to leave him alone during the week for just a few hours, he is not crated and does great- no accidents. At night he prefers to sleep on the floor on a blanket. He is just the sweetest little old man :)))
After 8 months of being with an adoptive family Billy has been returned to our rescue. Those of us who know and love beagles recognize that one of their most common characteristics is being crazy about food. So Billy barks and barks if he thinks there's a possibility he's going to get something to eat. When he came back to one of our foster homes, we found that his behavior was manageable - and by that we mean that with the right kind of prompting, he will stop his barking when he understands it is not an eating time. However, at eating times he is allowed to join in full beagle chorus with other beagles who are probably all saying, "Hurry, hurry! We are STARVING!!!"
So if you are a beagle family looking to add THE CUTEST little senior ever, who wags his tail a lot and is moderate to low energy, enjoying your occasional attention and petting but who sings for his dinner, please let us know! Billy currently eats his meals and sleeps in a crate at night. He is in a home where he uses a dog door to go outside and has not had any accidents in the house. He is friendly with all the other dogs, but doesn't play or really interact with them all that much. He does like occasionally exploring the yard, but mostly naps, waiting for the next eating experience.
