ADOPTION PENDING
Bagel was rescued by a Tampa police officer who found him on the side of the road after he had apparently been hit by a car. The officer took Bagel to the shelter where he received preliminary treatment and rescue groups were then contacted. We had the pleasure of being able to get him to Fetch Veterinary Services where his broken tibia and pelvic fractures were repaired by a specialist. Bagel had updated x-rays and his splint removed on September 24th and is recovering very well. Soon he will have the opportunity to spend 10 days undergoing rehab in the form of canine hydrotherapy with a wonderful canine health and rehab specialist.
Bagel was also heartworm positive and began treatment on September 16th which he has been tolerating well with no issues. As long as any potential family can continue his limited activity while he finishes out the heartworm treatment, he is ready for a sleepover. Bagel is moderately active and has a calm demeanor in general, but will likely have a little more pep in his step when after his hydrotherapy rehab. He is smart, sweet, affectionate, easy-going, well-mannered and house trained - basically the perfect pint-sized package! He gets along with the resident older male beagle in his foster home and sleeps quietly in his crate at night. He has a classic hungry beagle appetite but is gentle to take treats and has shown no signs of food aggression. Above all, Bagel loves affection and being in the company of his humans. Despite his uncertain beginnings, this little guy is a true gem who deserves a loving forever family to call his own.
