SPECIAL NEEDS - VERY SHY AND TIMID - PREFERS WOMEN
ANNIE IX came to the rescue as a very shy and fearful dog and her foster family has patiently and lovingly helped her to learn that life can be good and be free from danger. She is still timid but loves affection. However, so far she shows a very clear preference for women. She has met one or two men she will tolerate but others she will growl and bark at. The structure and schedule of her foster home has been helpful to Annie. In the mornings she will come to her foster mom's side of the bed and nudge or lick her hand because she wants to have breakfast and go out. At other times of the day she lets her family know she needs to go outsidel either by going to the door or pacing. Annie usually sleeps in a crate with the door open in her foster mom's bedroom, but sometimes she sleeps on another female family member's bed. Annie enjoys the outdoors and running around her back yard which has a 4' chain linked fence. She feels safe there now but foster mom initially had her on a lead until she grew more comfortable about coming back inside. Annie gets along well with the cats in her foster home and is also unphased by the chinchilla. She LOVES playing with the other dogs and is even really good natured when the male dog tries to have his way with her - she just continues to try to play. Annie will do best in a home with at least one other friendly and confident dog and a fenced yard.
