|
Luke came to us from a rural northern Alabama shelter where he was dropped in the overnight box with a notation that said, "Dog don't hunt." Well, something must have hunted him, because he is missing about 1/4 of his tail.
Luke is very cute and very shy right now. Like so many Beagles from rural areas, he is a little overwhelmed by the city sights, sounds and smells, but given some time and patience, he will be a great addition to any family.
Luke's foster home has several other dogs, a few cats and some young children. He loves to play with the other dogs and is coming moe and more out of his shell every day.
Update - 3/11/12 (from Ingrid P.)
Luke is ADORABLE. He is house trained, he sleeps quietly all night in his crate and does not wake up until everybody else is awake. When he needs to take a nap he goes into his crate. He is still young and loves to play with his toys and chew stuffed animals. You just need to be careful leaving "shoes" where they don't belong. He drops whatever he is taking at the command "drop." We are working on "walking on a leash." He is, at the beginning, scared of loud noises, either inside or outside noises. He was "amazed" at the sound of my coffee maker. He also is afraid of sudden and fast movements. If you get down to his level then he approaches you faster. He would be great for a family with older kids or just one person. He plays wonderfully with my other Beagle, and they get along great. When he learns to trust you he comes and gives you affection, especially in the mornings. He will not leave your side until you pet him for a few minutes. He likes to lay next to you when you are watching TV. I hope he will find his forever home with someone with patience and understanding of this little guy :)
