06/15/13 UPDATE: Lovey II has regained her health and her coat is full and shiny now! Sometimes in order for us to save another Beagle it is necessary for us to shift a dog to a different foster home. Lovey II went to live with different humans in a completely different home setting and ...wow! She showed us a wonderful ability to adjust! She is still quite shy of strangers and new situations, but once you convince Lovey that you will love her, she will love you back! And the more she learns that life will be kind to her now, the more trusting she will grow. Lovey II is a gentle little Beagle girl that just needs a little gentleness and patience in return.
4/24/13 UPDATE: Lovey II is making wonderful progress! She is taking all her medicine like a champ - her coat is slowly beginning to come back in and she has gained some weight. She is definitely feeling better and is becoming more confident. She now has truly care free moments filled with the joy of running top speed in figure eights and circles in the yard and romping furiously with her new best friend, Jed (also an SEBR rescue dog). She is most certainly a puppy - playful and frisky at times and can get into a bit of mischief chewing on blankets...but she redirects with only a gentle correction to more appropriate toys which she loves. She can still startled easily and seems to be especially sensitive about moving traffic - even if the cars are moving slowly. But she is becoming braver and happier every day. Lovey II is progressing even better than we had expected and her treatment should be complete by mid-May. Once she has been cleared by our veterinarian, she will be ready for adoption!
New Arrival: Lovey II arrived with some serious skin issues which are being treated and we expect in a few weeks her hair will have grown back. Lovey II is a little shy and cautious of new people and new things, but she wants to love and trust and just needs a chance to do so. A little patience will go a long way with Lovey II - and she is definitely a puppy! She is doing very well in her foster home with the other dogs and learning to be comfortable. She will now engage in some frisky puppy play and enjoys chewing on her toys!
