About Artie II | |

Update: Artie has settled into routines pretty well. He continues to make progress as far as physical contact and we have him trained to give us a nose bump on our palm for a treat. He really likes the other dogs and often watches closely when they are getting affection and love from the humans. Artie can now relax on the bed with either of us but will lie a little distance away. He makes good eye contact with us now too. Artie sleeps quietly in his crate at night and has grown accustomed to being tucked in with some gentle caresses. I think he is really learning to enjoy it but just still not sure. His doggy soul is being won over with patience and love. He will come around in his time and it will be a blessing beyond measure when he does. His markings and shape are beautiful and his eyes speak volumes!
Update from Artie's foster mom: Artie has only been with us for 24 hours but is beginning to get just a little more comfortable. He is absolutely fine with the other 8 dogs here and they seem to like him just fine. His is perhaps not yet too sure about actually playing with them, but he may be thinking about it and there have been some invitations. He is very curious about everything in the house and really didn't seem to have to much hesitation coming indoors. Artie had some fun this afternoon playing around with some toys. He took each one I had laid out across the floor for him into his crate and tossed them around, nosed them about and thoroughly chewed on them but did not destroy anything. He certainly has had no problem eating everything he has been given to eat but is very shy of hands reaching for him or people coming too close. We will be hand feeding him for a while to help this sweet boy along. He slept quietly in his crate last night with no fuss. What a joy to be introducing this gentle boy to what a good relationship with a human family can be like!
New Arrival: Artie is a Beagle/Hound mix who was dumped at a rural Louisiana shelter. Artie is very shy and not very sure he wants to be around people. We believe after a little time in his foster home we will see his real personality break through and we look forward to sharing updates with you!
